The dynamic business community that is growing in the city is attracting a new wave of business to Sunderland. Companies like Tombola and Ocado are now occupying large offices on the city’s riverside, which is being reconnected to the city centre through the Riverside Sunderland regeneration programme. The development will see both sides of the river evolve, creating the UK’s first carbon neutral urban quarter, where there will be a range of high-quality modern office spaces, cafés and eateries, a hotel and other leisure venues, and 1,000 ultra-sustainable homes, where some 2,500 people will eventually live.
“Sunderland Business Partnership provides a forum for the worlds of education, business, retail and public bodies to unite behind an ambitious, modern city and add their collective weight to the ongoing effort to make it an even better place to live, work and spend time.”
Ellen Thinnesen, Chief Executive, Education Partnership North East and Director of Sunderland Business Partnership
